Founded in 1996, the Asian Liver Center at Stanford University uses a three-pronged approach towards fighting hepatitis B through outreach, education, and research. Specifically, the Asian Liver Center spearheads educational outreach and advocacy efforts in the areas of hepatitis B and liver cancer prevention and treatment, serves as a resource for both the general public and health practitioners, and implements clinical and research programs. The American Liver Foundation (ALF) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention, treatment, and cure of hepatitis and other liver diseases through research, education, and advocacy on behalf of those at risk of or affected by liver disease. Through broad-based chapter support and activities, ALF aims to generate support in the lay and medical communities that will result in more effective treatment and prevention, improved care to those afflicted, and cures for those who now have only hope. The community-based Willamette Valley Cancer Foundation, part of the Willamette Valley Cancer Center in McMinnville, Oregon, helps low income patients and their families shoulder the burden
through an individualized grant program that provides support for their unique situations. The mission of this nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization is "to foster hope through the support of cancer
patients, education and prevention." The state-of-the-art Cancer Center, built in 2002, offers both radiation treatment and chemotherapy services for cancer patients as well as hematology services for patients with certain blood disorders.
The Center, which was commended by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons, was built with a special focus on patient comfort, privacy and convenience.
